Pets
Is Mission Beach Hideaway pet friendly?
Yes. Mission Beach Hideaway Holiday Village is pet friendly. Pets are welcome on application, including in cabins and on caravan and camping sites, and there is no pet fee. Can my dog stay in a cabin?
Yes, on application, and there is no pet fee. At Mission Beach Hideaway, pets can stay in cabins as well as on caravan and camping sites. Mention your dog when you book, and call reception on (07) 4068 7104 to confirm the right cabin before you arrive. Compare the cabins on our cabins page.
Are there dog-friendly beaches near Mission Beach?
Yes. Cassowary Coast Regional Council has dog off-leash areas at Bingil Bay, Mission Beach, Wongaling Beach and South Mission Beach, with signs marking each boundary. Outside these areas, dogs must be on a lead. Keep your dog under control and pick up after it. The council has a map of each area on its off-leash page.
What should dog owners know about cassowaries?
Southern cassowaries live in the rainforest around Mission Beach, including near Mission Beach Hideaway. The Queensland Government says to keep dogs on a lead on walks. Never feed or approach a cassowary, and never approach chicks. If one comes close, stay calm, face it and back away slowly. Slow down when driving. More on our Explore Mission Beach page.

Where is Mission Beach Hideaway?
Mission Beach Hideaway Holiday Village is at 58-60 Porter Promenade, Mission Beach QLD 4852, in the centre of Mission Beach village. The beach is 100 metres away and the tavern is next door. Mission Beach is about 2 hours south of Cairns and 3 hours north of Townsville. Find a map and directions on our contact page.
How far is the park from the beach?
The beach is 100 metres from Mission Beach Hideaway. Walk out the gate, cross Porter Promenade and you are on the sand. Of our cabins, the Promenade Villa is the closest to the beach. From November to May, swim inside the stinger nets. Things to do on and off the beach are on our Explore Mission Beach page.
Can I walk to restaurants, the tavern and shops?
Yes. Mission Beach Hideaway is in the village centre and the tavern is next door. Restaurants and cafes are about a five-minute walk, and the bakery, supermarket and fish and chip shop are also within walking distance. Park the car when you arrive and walk. How far is Mission Beach from Cairns, Cairns Airport and Townsville?
Mission Beach Hideaway is about 140 km south of Cairns, around 2 hours by road on the Bruce Highway. Cairns Airport, the nearest major airport, is about 145 km away. Townsville is about 240 km south, around 3 hours by road. Most guests drive or hire a car at the airport. More on our Explore Mission Beach page.
How do I get to Dunk Island?
Dunk Island is about 20 minutes offshore from Mission Beach. Ferry and water taxi services cross from Mission Beach, so check the current timetable and book your crossing with the operator. Dunk Island has walking trails, beaches and its own fringing reef. Mission Beach Hideaway is a short drive from the departure points. More on our Explore Mission Beach page.
Where is the nearest boat ramp?
The council boat ramp is about five minutes from Mission Beach Hideaway. Bring the boat: the park has a boat wash-down and fish cleaning station on site, and the reef is about 30 minutes by boat. Charters and boat hire are listed on our Explore Mission Beach page.
Is it safe to swim at Mission Beach?
Near Mission Beach Hideaway, swim at a patrolled beach between the red and yellow flags, and check patrol days. Marine stingers are present all year, with higher risk from November to May. In those months, swim inside the stinger nets at Mission Beach or South Mission Beach and consider a full-body lycra suit. More on our Explore Mission Beach page.
Caravans and camping
Are there powered caravan sites, and what amps?
Yes. Mission Beach Hideaway has powered caravan sites with 10 amp power, concrete annex pads and TV connection, and drive-through sites are available. Powered sites cost from $55 a night off peak and $65 in peak season. When you book, tell us your caravan’s length so we can allocate the right site. Details are on our sites page.
Are there unpowered tent sites?
Yes. Mission Beach Hideaway has shady grassed camping sites with or without power, 100 metres from the beach. Unpowered sites cost from $45 a night off peak and $55 in peak season. Campers share the amenities, the camp kitchen and the laundry. Pets welcome on application. Book on our sites page.
Cabins
Which cabin sleeps 6?
The Rainforest Bungalow sleeps 6. It is the largest cabin at Mission Beach Hideaway, with three sleeping zones (a queen bed and singles), a private ensuite, a full kitchen and a covered outdoor area, from $215 a night. For two separate bedrooms, the Premium Deluxe Villa 2-Bedroom sleeps 4. See the Rainforest Bungalow page.
Which cabin suits a couple?
Two cabins at Mission Beach Hideaway are built for couples. The Premium Deluxe Villa has a queen bed, a private ensuite, a full kitchen and its own outdoor space, from $189 a night. The Standard Cabin has a double bed and uses the shared amenities, from $120 a night. Both are air-conditioned. Compare them on our cabins page.
What is the difference between the Rainforest Villa, Promenade Villa and Ensuite Cabin?
At Mission Beach Hideaway, all three sleep 5 and have a private ensuite. The Promenade Villa is the closest to the beach and the Rainforest Villa sits on the rainforest edge, both from $167 a night. The Ensuite Cabin, in the cabin section of the park, is from $155 a night. Compare them on our cabins page.
Which cabins have their own bathroom?
Six of the seven cabin types at Mission Beach Hideaway have a private ensuite: the Premium Deluxe Villa 2-Bedroom, Premium Deluxe Villa, Rainforest Bungalow, Rainforest Villa, Promenade Villa and Ensuite Cabin. Is linen supplied, and is there air conditioning?
Yes. Every cabin at Mission Beach Hideaway has linen on all beds, air conditioning and ceiling fans. Each also has a TV, a fridge, a microwave, a kettle, a toaster, cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. The full list of what is included is on our cabins page.
Facilities
Is there a pool and waterslide?
Yes. Mission Beach Hideaway has a freshwater pool with a waterslide and a toddlers pool. Every guest can use them, whether you stay in a cabin or on a caravan or camping site, and pool use is included in your stay. Read about every shared facility on our facilities page.
Can I charge my EV?
Yes. Mission Beach Hideaway has a dual-outlet EV charging station on site, open to guests and non-guests. It suits a stop on the drive between Cairns and Townsville. For the connector type and charging cost, call reception on (07) 4068 7104. Details are on our facilities page.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes. Free Wi-Fi is included with every stay at Mission Beach Hideaway, with an allowance of 500 MB per day. The daily allowance suits email, maps and messages more than streaming. Everything included with your stay is listed on our facilities page.
Is there a camp kitchen and laundry?
Yes. Mission Beach Hideaway has a fully equipped camp kitchen with a fridge, and BBQ areas throughout the park. The amenities blocks have laundry facilities. Every guest can use them, whether in a cabin or on a site. See our facilities page.
Can groups use the clubhouse?

Do you take long winter stays?
Yes. Mission Beach Hideaway takes longer winter stays, and winter is a popular time for southern travellers escaping the cold. To talk through dates and weekly or long-stay rates, call reception on (07) 4068 7104. We do not offer permanent accommodation. Site details are on our sites page.
Do you take work crews?
Yes. Mission Beach Hideaway hosts workers and contractors for stays from a few days to several months, in the village centre with the pool, BBQ areas and camp kitchen on site. To plan a crew booking and ask about rates, call (07) 4068 7104. See our cabins page.
Do you offer permanent residency?
No, Mission Beach Hideaway Holiday Village does not offer permanent residency. It is a holiday park for short and longer holiday stays, including winter stays and work crews staying from a few days to several months. Is Mission Beach good to visit all year?
Yes, Mission Beach is a year-round destination with a warm tropical climate. The beach, rainforest walks and village are there every month, and Mission Beach Hideaway is 100 metres from the sand. Online, pick your dates and choose a cabin or a caravan and camping site. Booking direct means you deal with us, not an agent. Check availability and book.
How much does a night cost?
Cabins at Mission Beach Hideaway start from $120 a night for the Standard Cabin, and the Premium Deluxe Villa 2-Bedroom is priced on enquiry. Powered sites are from $55 a night off peak and $65 peak, and unpowered sites from $45 and $55. Holiday periods such as Easter may carry a cabin minimum stay and surcharge.
